Prague Hotel Red Lion (Hotel U Cerveneho Lva, Praha) belonging to the category of 4-star Prague luxury hotels offering Prague accommodation in in the historical centre of Prague, right on the "Royal Route" (Kralovska cesta, Praha) in a vicinity of the main entrance gate to the Prague Castle. Particularly unique is the house facade, connected with the famous 17th century altar painter Peter Brandl, who was born and lived in this house.

An ancient burgher house in the historical centre of Prague, located on the Royal Route, only five minute walk from the main entrance to Prague Castle. The first written records of the house date back to the 15th century. The well preserved cellar rooms, presently housing a restaurant, are from the Gothic period. The Renaissance can be appreciated in the original painted beam ceilings of both the public premises and the guest rooms, whilst the entrance portal reminds us of the baroque reconstruction of the house. The facade is of great interest also due to its relation to Peter Brandl, a famous 17th century altar painter who was born and lived in the house. All further adaptations implied new architectural elements, with an outstanding importance of classicism.

The current appearance of the house faithfully preserves its historic character. In 1994-1995, the whole building underwent a demanding reconstruction and the following interiors opened to the public: a street floor restaurant and cafe with original painted beam ceilings, two-storey cellar restaurant with preserved gothic vaults and guest rooms with historic atmosphere exalted by original period furniture.

The Renaissance reconstruction of the house can be appreciated in the original painted beam ceilings. From the rooms, there is a wonderful view of Petřín Hill, Royal Route and the Lesser Town rooftops beneath Prague Castle. The historic atmosphere and cosiness is underlined by original period furniture.

All rooms have comfort bathrooms, with a tub or a shower. The rooms are equipped with a hair drier, minibar, safe, direct dial telephone and TV set with satellite reception. 

The guest rooms´ as well as all public areas´ equipment meets the EU safety and fire protection standards.

The House at the Red Lion contains a restaurant of the same name that consists of a street floor restaurant, a cellar restaurant and a cellar wineroom. You can select from typical Czech specialities as well as from a wide assortment of interntional cuisine.

The street floor restaurant boasts original painted beam ceilings, the romantic atmosphere of the cellar rooms is underlined by preserved gothic vaults.  The Red Lion restaurant is an ideal place for your meetings with friends or business partners, for celebrations of different social events and parties, or wedding receptions.

The capacity of the street floor restaurant is 26 seats, of the cellar restaurant also 26 seats and of the wineroom 18 seats.
